She’s home from the hospital!

Friday night was a trip!  About 2 o’clock in the morning both of the girls woke up with stuff coming out everywhere!  I’m trying not to be too descriptive, but you get the idea.  I couldn’t clean the puke bowls fast enough.  It was disgusting and I felt really bad for them.  Brandon and I took turns helping them out.

Saturday came around and Bailey got better.  Thank God for that!  All night the previous night she just kept saying, “Mom, I don’t like to be sick.”  I know, sweet girl!  Piper, on the other hand, got worse.  She’s such a tiny little pipsqueak, she wasn’t keeping anything down, and she wouldn’t take anything in either.

Finally, I took her in to the doctor on Sunday morning.  Her doctor said that she would look at her, but she needed to be at Wolfson Children’s Hospital right then!  So, we headed downtown to the kid’s ER.  I had a feeling she would be admitted and sure enough she was.  When we got to the ER, she was listless, lethargic, and just plain sick.  They immediately put an IV in her and started her on fluids.  They checked her blood sugar as well.  The nurse told me that a normal blood sugar level was between 80-120.  Piper’s was 38!  Soon after this, she was admitted and got her own room.

Brandon then came down and we switched places.  He stayed with Pip while I went home with the two older ones for a while.  Later that night we switched again and I stayed the night at the hospital with Baby Girl.  While she was sleeping, I caught the nasty bug that she had.  Bleh!!!  It’s no fun to be throwing up in the hospital when you just want to be home and in your own bed.  Although, if I was going to be sick with Piper I guess the hospital is the place to be, right?

Monday rolls around and Brandon and I switch again.  This time I’m able to come home and sleep in a house filled to the brim with absolute silence!  It was REALLY weird!  If you have kids and are ever at home by yourself for any length of time, you understand what I’m talking about.  The silence was a little daunting, but I overcame it and slept through it.

After going back down to the hospital and waiting through a few more hours of foot pricks to test her sugar levels, Piper and I were finally able to come home.  Yay!!!  We are all home now, I have a HUGE MESS to clean in the house, and Brandon is…  Well, Brandon is in bed with the same sickness now!  Poor guy.  You know what they say, right?  A family that gets sick together, stays together.  Isn’t that what they say?

I’ve got to go do more laundry, pick Justice up from preschool, do dishes and nurse my husband back to wellness.  Not literally nurse him, but figuratively.  Hahaha!  Thank you to everyone for your prayers and support over the past few days.  We feel the love!!!
